TRAVEL PLANNING NOTES

Useful starting points for the concept. Confirm entry rules, transport availability, park access and weather with current official sources.

Understanding Sri Lanka's Dual Monsoons

Weather can vary sharply across Sri Lanka because two monsoon systems affect different parts of the island at different times:

South-West Monsoon (Yala)

May to September often brings wetter conditions to the south-west, while parts of the east may follow a different pattern. Local forecasts still matter.

North-East Monsoon (Maha)

The north-east monsoon often affects northern and eastern areas later in the year. Conditions vary by region, elevation and week.
